Expected Online Branded Slots From Microgaming

The first of these is The Phantom of the Opera. The initial announcement from Microgaming indicated the release in Q3 of 2017. If there is no delay then the video slot should be live in the next two months. The Phantom of the Opera by Andrew Lloyd Webber was first released as a stage musical in 1986. It was converted to a movie in 2004, which retained Webber’s iconic songs like “The Phantom of the Opera”, “The Music of the Night” and “All I Ask of You”. It was directed by Joel Schumacher and starred Gerard Butler, Emmy Rossum and Minnie Driver. The branded slot, being developed by Microgaming under a licensing agreement with The Really Useful Group, will feature the main characters, musical numbers and original footage from the film. The popularity of the brand can be gauged from the fact that the movie grossed over $154 million worldwide. The stage version is even more successful. It opened at Her Majesty’s Theatre in London in 1986. 31 years down the line The Phantom of the Opera continues to mesmerise audiences at the very same theatre in the West End.

The second branded slot from Microgaming is Halloween. It is based on the 1978 movie of the same name. Halloween is a slasher film, which for the uninitiated means serial killings. It was directed by John Carpenter and starred Donald Pleasence and Jamie Lee Curtis. The basic story line is as follows. In 1963, the six years old Michael Myers murders his sister on Halloween night. Exactly fifteen years later, he returns to continue his killing spree. It is being presumed that Microgaming intends to release this branded slot in time for Halloween this year. One of the reasons for selecting this movie was that it grossed $70 million worldwide and spawned 10 sequels to date. But the merit of the film goes beyond these numbers. In 2006 Halloween was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant”. In 2010 it was listed in The 100 Greatest Movies of All Time. As in other Microgaming branded slots, Halloween will feature the film’s iconic characters, the soundtrack and visual content.
