Microgaming Showcases New Developments At ICE Expo

March 9, 2015

The annual ICE expo held in London is a ground for those connected with the online gaming industry to showcase their future products. Microgaming, the software provider to leading Canadian online casinos, is a regular participant and usually makes important announcements on this occasion. This year Microgaming announced another branded slot to be released in August and also gave demonstrations of futuristic products involving advanced technology.

Bridesmaids is the branded slot that is being developed under a licensing agreement with Universal Partnerships & Licensing. It is based on the comedy film of the same name starring Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Melissa McCarthy and Rebel Wilson. All four actors appear as symbols on the reels in their true likeness from the movie. The win animations will release video clips of the most hilarious moments from the film. Bridesmaids will not be in the 243 ways to win that Microgaming has of late been using for its branded slots, but will offer 40 paylines. Included in the new slot game will be a multi-level bonus game. Bridesmaids will go live simultaneously on PCs and mobile devices at Canadian online casinos. Keep the first week of August marked in your calendar to check out this slot game.

Microgaming believes that wearable mobile devices will be the next breakthrough in remote gaming, and these will come through smartwatches and special headsets. The software provider has developed the industry's first wearable five-reel slot for the Samsung Gear smartwatch. The slot game is Thunderstruck, which is extremely popular at Canadian online casinos. The smartwatch version of this slot game has the same degree of functionality as the mobile one. Microgaming has already adapted the application for Android and is now working on adapting it for Apple Watches.

Microgaming has also developed an online slot for the Oculus Rift VR and Google Cardboard headsets. This slot game offers 360-degree view and interactive elements to create “an immersive experience like no other”. The software provider has developed a virtual reality 3D roulette for Oculus Rift. The player can experience placing chips with his own hands on the roulette table. Another product already developed is a sports betting application for the original Google Glass. Microgaming is now working on an application for Microsoft's HoloLens glasses.

Roger Raatgever, chief executive of Microgaming, stated that these technologies were in the early adopter phase at present. He could not say when these products would be commercially available to Canadian gamers, but he assured that Microgaming would be the first to introduce them.
